The Musicians

Anchored by the incomparable Lee Smith on bass, (father of legendary bassist, Christian McBride), Tom Lawton on piano, Eric Johnson on drums, and Kevin Joella on guitar, these musicians have graced many recordings made in Philadelphia over the past decades. No session is complete without them. They are singular players, a confederation of creative music geniuses equally versed in all genres. This ensemble joins the pantheon of great rhythm sections that have performed the American Song Book and the American Soul Book over the past half century.

They embody the very essence of the great rhythm sections past.

Their latest effort, Jerry Burton: The Great American Soul Book, Reimagined. Vol l is a tour de force of the American Soul book. The live recording experience contained within, is a musical treat, showcasing the indelible touches these musicians have added to countless recordings over the years.
